This Week at Holy Family

HELPING IAIA STUDENTS Each year students arrive from all over the U.S. and Japan to study at the Institute of American Indian Arts. The school has a student pantry and is in need of gently used household and clothing items, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, deodorant, hairbrushes, toilet paper, women’s sanitary items, toilet paper, towels, various non-perishable food items, laundry detergent (pods), clothing and shoes. We will collect these items the next few weeks at church and deliver them in August.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 5 HEALING SUNDAY Each first Sunday, healing is offered. If you are in need if spiritual, mental or physical healing, please remain in the sanctuary after worship. The priest will offer prayers, the laying on of hands and anointing.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29 BOOK STUDY: “THE BOOK OF JOY: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World” by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu with Douglas Abrams. Learn how to find joy in the face of suffering from two of the world’s modern day spiritual giants. Bring a journal. We will meet at church and start promptly at 6:30, ending by 8 p.m. Order your book from a local bookseller or or find a copy in the library or at Goodwill. Feel free to bring your own dinner or snack.

DIOCESAN WOMEN’S RETREAT: Boldly Forward: Bible Women Inspire Our Lives August 17-18 (5 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday) at the Bosque Center, ABQ. Who are Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, Judith, Ruth and Esther? What inspiration can they offer? Carpools from Santa Fe are planned. Registration is $50, including three meals. Half scholarships are available. Contact Flyers are in the hallway.

PRAYER SQUARES Prayer Squares meets the second Wednesday each month to knit and crochet squares, which are sewn into blankets/shawls. We meet at church from 6:30/7 to 8:30 p.m. No experience is necessary. Yarn, hooks and needles are supplied. Join us August 8 for fun, fellowship & treats.
