This Week at Holy Family

HOLY HIKES Our next Holy Hike will be the cross-country ski run near the Santa Fe ski basin Saturday, July 13. We will meet at 9 a.m. at the overflow parking lot on Hyde Park Road, across from Ten Thousand Waves, then drive to our destination. Bill Cooper will be our guide. Bring water and snacks. Wear sunscreen and good hiking shoes.

WORSHIP IN THE PARK & PICNIC Celebrate summer with our church family this Sunday, as we worship in God’s great creation and share a picnic potluck at the SWAN Park gazebo! Bring your family and friends.  Service starts at 10:30 a.m. As usual with Holy Family potlucks, there will be plenty of food, so no one should feel obligated to bring something.  But, if you didn't sign up for the potluck and you want to contribute, please feel free to bring: pre-made sandwiches, potato salad, Cole slaw, watermelon (cut into slices with the rind on), or individual bags of chips. There will be some gluten-free sandwiches so please ask if you need one.  Plates, napkins, and forks will be provided.   Directions to SWAN Park from the church: Go to Highway 14 and turn left. Turn right onto Highway 599. Take the Jaguar Drive exit and go to the right. At the roundabout, take a right, then follow the road into SWAN Park. Go to the end of the road, where there is parking and the gazebo. Bring lawn chairs, if you have them.  This should be a fun and glorious morning!

HOLY FAMILY TO HAVE ITS OWN FIELD WORK STUDENT God has sent us a blessing! This September, Penni Chambers, who is entering her second year at Iona/Bishop’s School for Ministry, will be joining us as a field work student. Penni is a Postulant for Holy Orders to the Priesthood and a member of Holy Faith Episcopal Church in Santa Fe. Penni will serve at Holy Family for the next two academic years in liturgical roles (lector, LEM, LEV, healing minister, preach a minimum of three times a semester), help out with church activities (service projects, Christian formation/bible and book study), attend meetings, etc. In her second year, she will lead a project which will be a source of great learning for us all. Penni will be another person to help, learn and grow with us. Please pray for her as she continues to discern her call by God.

SAVE-THE-DATE: AUGUST SERVICE PROJECT On Wednesday, August 7 from 9 a.m. to noon, we will be repackaging bulk food items for distribution at The Food Depot, 1222 A Siler Road. The Food Depot works to end hunger in Northern NM. All volunteers need to wear closed-toe shoes and no tank tops or sleeveless tops for food safety reasons.

PRAYER SQUARES meets for knitting, crocheting, support and fellowship the second and fourth Wednesdays, 6-8 p.m. at church. Next gathering: July 24.
